Teens
In addition to age-appropriate Bible study classes on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., the Teen Ministry at OCOC is growing and active. There are many activities throughout the year for all of the youth of the congregation.
We strive not just to "entertain" our youth, but to provide them with activities that will help them grow in the Lord, and build a better relationship with God and each other. Some youth activities are fun in nature, while others are spiritually-based.
Sandwich & Devo
Every third Sunday night, youth stay after evening worship and have "Sandwich and Devo." It is a time when youth can delve into subject matter that is relevant to their lives and participate in discussion.
Youth Rally
The OCOC hosts an annual Youth Rally in August. An energetic speaker is invited to talk to the youth. We sing songs, play games, and eat together. It is a full day in which we strive to help young people grow in their walk with God. Our youth report that they have a great time at this annual event and it's a great time for them to invite their friends to attend with them.
Youth Camp
The OCOC always encourages youth to participate in summer Youth Camp. Applications can be picked up from the church office for either of two youth camps supported by our congregation.
Skyline Christian Youth Camp is a local camp that meets the first week in June. Kevin Smith, Associate Minister at the Gadsden Church of Christ, directs this session. SCYC is a great camp with a long history.
Sardis Lake Christian Camp is nestled in the hills of northeast Mississippi. Founded in 1967 with land donated by the Roy Sawyer family, the SLCC is a place where young people are transformed into Christian leaders who are deeply committed to Christ, His Church, and to one another.
Bob Swain, preacher for the Oneonta Church of Christ, directs the third session of camp at Sardis Lake which will be June 22-28, 2014. Cost per youth is $150. Many of our youth attend this session every year and have a great time. We value our youth and strive always to help them as they grow.
